Ana is Overwatch’s first support sniper and number one mom. If you played as a sniper before and as non-traditional abilities might surprise you. She has a familiar scoped rifle but everything else about Anna breaks them all. For the top five things, you need to know about playing Anna.
Sniper But Not A Sniper
The most satisfying part of playing any snipers killing enemies from afar with a single headshot. However, headshots aren’t so important for Anna players. Her biotic rifle does the same amount of damage where they hit the enemy in the head or in the foot. For people learning how to play a sniper class, this is actually a good thing. Instead of meeting incredible accuracy to pull off consistent headshots. All Ana player need to do is hit the enemy anywhere to be effective.
Ana Also has no mobility options. She can’t run up walls a Konso and she doesn’t have a grappling hook like Widowmaker. This might annoy veteran snipers who prefer getting the advantage points quickly. But as you dive deep into the unique aspects of Anna’s weapons, will see why this doesn’t even make a difference
Ana has a unique weapon in the game, her biotic rifle. If she shoots an enemy with it, it hits 180 damage but if she hits an ally it heals 475 health. As I mentioned earlier ana and her weapon deal a fixed amount of damage no matter where an enemy has hit. But her damage is also dealt over 1.5 second period. So when you do the killing blow, expect a kill confirmation happened a few moments after.
Ana’s bullets also have different properties when scoped and unscoped. In scope mode her bullets hit the target instantly, but when unscoped the bullet fired as a projectile, which has a short travel time. The difference is only a fraction of a few seconds but sometimes critical plays come down to mere moments.
Also when shooting friendly players to heal the hitbox is actually a bit larger. This will come in handy when healing more mobile allies like Farrah and tracer. And this is actually why Anna can’t climb like the other snipers. As an Ana player, you will be rushing behind your team in more of a mid-range position as opposed to being far back like a traditional sniper. And since you’re walking on the same plane as your team, will find yourself shooting bullets into the heated battle.
This means you’ll have a better chance of healing frontline attackers like Rinehart and road hog. While also having the chance to shoot other frontline enemies for damage. Of course, this also means a teammate might jump in front of the line of fire and your bullet will heal them instead of hitting an enemy.
Since we’ll be fighting at mid-range, to find Anna’s biotic grenade are really useful. Like a biotic rifle, it has two properties, The grenade will heal teammates and damage enemies. When the grenade hits a surface or a hero the effects are dealt over a small area.
For teammates, will give them a hundred health and increase all healing effects by a hundred percent. Any enemies hit in the effective range will be dealt 80 damage and will not be able to heal. No matter who gets hit the effects of the grenade last five seconds.
Ana’s sleep dark is one of the most interesting weapons in the game. There’s a long cooldown of 12 seconds but for one hit will put any character to sleep and mobilizing them for 5.5 seconds. During sleep enemies cannot do anything at all, you can only be woken up by receiving damage. And don’t expect to get any kills with the dark it only deals 5 damage. The most effective use to stop an enemies ultimate. The sleep dart will interrupt any ultimate in progress to be seen enemies setting up for a special attack, they can go night night and with the ultimate.
Speaking of Ultimates fans of team fortress 2 might be familiar the properties and it’s Nana boost. Any
teammate with the ultimate glow and receive a huge stat increase. Their damage output is increased by 50%, all damage done to them is reduced by fifty percent and begin a 30-percent speed boost. This ultimate is great for pushing an objective with the tank like Rinehart or the character of the strong damage output like soldier 76. It effects contact with other ultimate a coincidence primal rage to be sure to coordinate for the maximum amount of chaos.
Remember communication is key with this ultimate. It only lasts 8 seconds and you don’t want to catch teammate off guard would have no idea how to capitalize on the boost.
Anna is nontraditional, a rewarding once you figure out how to use her. She’s a sniper and a support class, she can actually be a very valuable member of any team.
